Wurst Bubbat

Oven Temp: 350 deg F         Time: 45 minutes

1.5 cups milk - scald it, cool to lukewarm and add 1 cup lukewarm water

Stir together:
1 Tbsp sugar
1 beaten egg
1 tsp salt
1 cup flour
1 Tbsp yeast
2.5 - 3 cups flour

Makes soft dough that can barely be stirred. Pour dough into 9 x 12 greased pan. Press pieces of sausage into dough. Let dough rise for a half hour or longer. Bake. Sprinkle with cheese and broil.

Stuffed Potatoes

Oven Temp: 400 deg F       Time: 15 minutes

8 medium potatoes, baked
Potato pulp
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup rich milk, hot
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Grated medium cheddar cheese

Cut 1/4 inch slice lengthwise from potatoes.

Scoop out pulp into bowl. Add butter, milk, salt and pepper. Mash together. Spoon into potato shells. To make shells fuller, bake 1 or 2 extra potatoes to add to stuffing.

Sprinkle with grated cheese. Place on baking sheet and bake until hot.

My Favorite Banana Bread

Temp: 350 deg F  

1/2 cup butter (or substitute with 1/4 cup butter & 1/4 cup applesauce)
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed bananas (about 3 medium)
1/2 cup grated zucchini

1-3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt 
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1/3 cup saskatoon berries
1/3 cup chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugar together. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating until smooth. Add mashed bananas and zucchini and blend in.

In second bowl, stir flour with baking soda, baking powder, salt and nuts. Add to banana mixture stirring only to moisten. Transfer to greased loaf pan. Bake for about 1 hour until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes. Remove from pan and place on cake rack to cool. Wrap to store.

Potato Chip Cookies

Temp: 350 deg F          Time: 12-14 minutes

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla
1-1/2 cups flour
1 cup potato chips, crushed

Mix together first 4 ingredients. Add flour and potato chips. Roll into balls; press down with a fork to flatten. Bake on a greased cookie sheet.

Coca-Cola Cake With Frosting

Temp: 350 deg F         Time: 30-35 minutes

1 cup butter
1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup Coca-Cola
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1-1/2 cups miniature marshmallows

Heat butter, cocoa and Coca-Cola to a boil. Add flour, sugar, and soda; mix gently. Stir in buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and marshmallows. Pour into 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake. Frost with Coca-Cola frosting while cake is still warm.


Coca-Cola Frosting

1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup cocoa
6 Tbsp Coca-Cola
1 cup miniature marshmallows
1 box powdered sugar, sifted
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup nuts

Heat butter, cocoa and Coca-Cola to boiling. Add marshmallows. Stir until melted. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Stir in nuts. Spread over warm cake.
