1 cup onions, chopped
3 cups celery, chopped
1 cup butter or margarine
2 tsp salt
1-1/2 tsp dried sage leaves
1 tsp dried thyme leaves
1/2 tsp pepper
12 cups soft bread cubes
Cook and stir onion and celery in butter in skillet until onion is soft and tender. Stir in salt, sage, thyme and pepper. Stir in the bread cubes. Add remaining ingredients and stir together. Place in a 9 x 13 greased pan and bake.
Apple-Raising Stuffing: Decrease bread cubes to 7 cups and increase salt to 1 Tbsp. Add 3 cups finely chopped apples and 3/4 cup raisins with the remaining ingredients.
